1.  Look for little words inside of big words. 

2.  Crosswalk is a compound word.  There are two real words in it: cross and walk. 

3.  Stop is a short o word.  The o has the same vowel sound as "octopus." 

4.  Listen to the vowel sound of or in for. 

Challenges: 

1.  Make a list of words that start with "st" like the beginning of stop. 

2.  Make a list of words with the "or" vowel sound. 

3.  Make a list of compound words... hotdog, snowman...
