William Rhodes Wilder bought this chair between 1890-1900 in New York. It was shipped by boat around Cape Horn to San Francisco. From San Francisco it came by Southern Pacific Freight to Byron. Mr. Wilder purchased it for his wife Frances Wilder who had rheumatism in her legs. The Wilder Family cared for it many years before donating it to the museum
